Nacido en Catalunya, 1981, Oscar realiza su tesis doctoral en el Grupo de Ecología de Macrófitos Acuáticos, del Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Blanes, doctorándose en 2011. Realiza su estancia post doctoral en el «Centre for Ecosystems Management in the School of Natural Sciences» de Perth, Australia, bajo la supervisión del Dr. Paul Lavery. Tiene más de 10 años de experiencia investigadora en ecología marina, paleoecología y ciclos biogeoquímicos marinos. Ha participado en varios proyectos con estos temas como AGRIWESTMED, SUMAR II, SUMAR, CARBOMED, WADI, o LIFE Blue Natura. Actualmente se ha reincorporado al CEAB como contratado Ramón y Cajal y co-director del GAME.

Apasionado por el mar y sus rincones, Oscar pasa su tiempo libre navegando y explorando los fondos marinos. También disfruta de la pesca y la recolección de setas, la fotografia y viajar a lugares remotos del planeta.

Estudiar el cambio en los ecosistemas a largo plazo, mediante el estudio de registros milenarios en zonas costeras y el analisis de indicadores biologicos, quimicos y geologicos.

CSIC Adjunct Doctor – Oscar Serrano (Catalunya, 1981) is a Post Doctoral Research Fellow within the «Centre for Ecosystems Management in the School of Natural Sciences» in Perth, Australia, and part of GAME. He has over seven years research experience in marine ecology and palaeoecology, and in marine biogeochemical cycles. He participated in several projects related tot this topics such as AGRIWESTMED, SUMAR II, SUMAR, CARBOMED and WADI.In Spain he worked at the Centre for Advanced Studies of Blanes and the University of Santiago de Compostela.

Passionate about the sea and its corners, Oscar spends his free time navigating and exploring the seabed. He also enjoys fishing and mushroom picking, photography and travel to remote places on the planet.

Study the change in ecosystems in the long term, through the study of millenary records in coastal areas and the analysis of biological, chemical and geological indicators.
