El Grupo de Ecología de Macrófitos Acuáticos (GAME en inglés) es pionero en el estudio del ciclo del carbono en ecosistemas costeros dominados por fanerógamas marinas. A lo largo de las últimas tres décadas se ha especializado en el estudio del fenómeno de acumulación refractaria de carbono orgánico durante siglos o milenios en sedimentos de praderas marinas en ambientes mediterráneos, sub-tropicales y tropicales.
